

British-based Kiwi, Andrew Nicholson has just returned from his fifth Olympic Games, where his New Zealand team took fifth place. He previously won silver at Barcelona in 1992 and bronze at Atlanta in 1996.
Andrew holds the record for contesting the world's most famous three-day event, Badminton, more times than any other rider. He has competed 25 times, although the title still eludes this veteran eventer.
Andrew was brought up on his parent's farm in Waikato on the North Island of New Zealand. He left school at 15 and worked for various racing trainers, breaking and educating young horses, before moving to England in 1979 to further his career in equestrianism.
He has represented his country on the international eventing circuit since he was 18 and was part of the winning New Zealand team - riding Spinning Rhombus - at Stockholm in 1990.
Andrew won Burghley in 1995 with Buckley Province and in 2000 with Mr Smiffy. He was also a member of the New Zealand teams that were Halberg Award finalists in 1990, 1992 and 1996.

Andrew represented New Zealand at the Beijing Olympics – his sixth Olympic appearance – where Team New Zealand came fifth. He has represented New Zealand at the World Championships five times, winning Team Gold in 1990. He has completed Badminton Horse Trials a record 25 times.
