

With a background steeped in horses, it was inevitable that Lucy Wiegersma would find a career in equestrianism.
Her father has ridden for Holland and Great Britain, and both parents have been involved in producing and selling event horses for 25 years.
Currently ranked third in Great Britain, Lucy is the only rider to have won all three National titles - Junior Rider Championship, Young Rider Championship and Senior British National champion.
She was selected to represent Team GB at the Beijing Olympics, but was forced to withdraw due to injury to her horse Shaabrak.
Lucy, 31, was born and raised in Cornwall. She took part in five European championship teams at under 21 level, where her successes included individual and team medals. She has also had two-star wins at Blair, Burgie and Thirlestane and a three-star win at Blair.
Lucy’s outstanding talent and professionalism have been recognised and supported by the lottery-funded World Class Development programme. She has trained a string of young horses with Championship medal-winning potential and is widely regarded as an up-and-coming rider tipped for the top.
With an English degree from Exeter University, Lucy is also involved in the world of freelance journalism. She currently writes a monthly column for Horse magazine and is a regular contributor to newspapers and magazines such as Horse & Hound, Eventing and the Western Morning News.
